In a world where lip-sync and minus-one tracks have become the norm, Remo and The Microwave Papadums stand out like a healthy thumb among sore fingers. Performing fully live, and putting up high-energy power-driven performances everywhere they go, the band has performed everywhere from Brasil to Bahrain, New York to Nairobi, Seychelles to Santa Cruz, Mauritius to Margao… the countries, cities and venues dissolve into a blur.
Mukesh Ghatwal
Remo calls him ‘the backbone of my band’. Mukesh plays the Bass as well as all Keyboard parts on two keyboards – live, with no programming or sequencing. And simultaneously handles the most complicated vocal harmonies thrown at him.
Mukesh joined The Microwave Papadums in the year 2000.
Aditya Walavalkar
No other man wears his hair long like Aditya’s in his little village of Banda, near Sawantwadi. His mother threatens to cut it every night. He has hitherto found it intact every morning. He is now bethroded to a young lady who is in love with his hair as it is. And with the fact that he plays the Tablas and Dholak like a god, as also most Indian percussions.
He joined the Papadums in 2019.
Jonathan Dias
All of 18 when he joined the band, lanky Jonathan is the loudest [and the grooviest] drummer The Papadums have ever had.
He joined in 2011.
Remembering The Original Microwave Papadums
Victor Alvares [Bass], Dharma Hirve [Tablas], Selwyn Pereira [Keyboards], Sunil Redkar [Stage Assistant]. They left this Earth on an Indian highway after a particularly fabulous concert in the year 2000. They live in music forever.
